Xi'an is the capital of the Shaanxi province, and one of the oldest cities in China, its history spanning on more than 3000 years. It is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, holding that position under several of the most important dynasties in Chinese history, such as Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui, and Tang.
Known as Chang'an (meaning the eternal city) in ancient times, Xi'an is one of the birthplaces of the ancient Chinese civilization in the Yellow River Basin area. Due to the fact that it is home of the famous Terracotta Warriors of the Qin Dynasty, it has gained world-wide fame, and it is one of the most captivating historical cities in Asia to visit.
The "eternal city", as Xi'an is also called, records the great changes of the Chinese nation just like a living history book, making tourists marvel at the numerous historical sites and cultural relics found within and around its area.
Among Xi'an's highlighting attractions, we find the Ancient City Wall, the first landmark visitors will encounter in the city, dating since the 14th century, from the time of the Ming Dynasty, the Great Mosque, the largest and one of the most important Islamic places of worship in China, the Bell Tower, dating since 1348, or interesting museums such as Shaanxi History Museum, Forest of Stele Museum or Banpo Museum. ▸more
